[Review] One Hundred Names - Cecelia Ahern

Title of Book : One Hundred Names
Author : Cecelia Ahern
Publisher : Harper Collins Publisher
The new novel from the bestselling author. Journalist Kitty Logan's career is being destroyed by scandal - and now she faces losing the woman who guided and taught her everything she knew. At her terminally ill friend's bedside, Kitty asks - what is the one story she always wanted to write? The answer lies in a file buried in Constance's office: a list of one hundred names. There is no synopsis, nothing to explain what the story is or who these people are. The list is simply a mystery. But before Kitty can talk to her friend, it is too late. With everything to prove, Kitty is assigned the most important task of her life: to write the story her mentor never had the opportunity to. Kitty not only has to track down and meet the people on the list, but find out what connects them. And, in the process of hearing ordinary people's stories, she starts to understand her own.

My May selection for keyword reading challenge. I like Ahern's books which I read before so I decided to pick One Hundred Names for my May keyword reading challenge. Boy, do I like the book ? I love it!
Katherine 'Kitty' Logan is a TV and magazine journalist. Apparently, she's having the worst time of her life. Her job at the television is threatened after her false accusation to a man and makes the man's life miserable. The only thing that she could hold on to was her best friend and editor, Constance. Constance was sick. Kitty then asked Constance if there is a story she would want to write but never had a chance to. The answer lies in an envelope which Constance instructed Kitty to retrieve. But before Kitty had the chance to get any explanation, Constance passed away. As a tribute, Kitty determined to write a story/ stories based on the envelope which actually contains a list of one hundred names.
The idea of having to write stories based on many resources without knowing the connection reminds me of one of the course that I take this semester. I know how frustrating it could be. But that's one of the thing that makes reading this fun. There are a lot of lessons to be learnt. I like the way Ahern plays with words to present the story. I didn't even realize that I knew all along what the main point of Constance's story. I even got the thrill of wondering what the connection is between each person on the list. One Hundred Names is just beautiful. I'm not sure if I could write a review about it without spoiling the story. So I guess I'll just let you read it yourself and join Kitty's journey.

  1. I hate when I want to gush over a book but I can't say anything without giving away too much of the plot! Love when I get a book that I want to give five stars to. Great review!
