[Review] Something Blue (Darcy & Rachel #2) - Emily Giffin

Title of Book : Something Blue (Darcy & Rachel #2)
Author : Emily Giffin
Publisher : St. Martin's Paperback

Darcy Rhone has always been able to rely on a few things: her beauty and charm. Her fiancĂ© Dex. Her lifelong best friend Rachel. She never needed anything else. Or so she thinks until Dex calls of their dream wedding and she uncovers the ultimate betrayal. Blaming everyone but herself, Darcy flees to London and attempts to recreate her glamorous life on a new continent. But to her dismay, she discovers that her tried-and-true tricks no longer apply—and that her luck has finally expired. It is only then that she can begin her journey toward redemption, forgiveness, and true love.

I decided that the best way to get over the book hangover is to finish the series. I didn't expect much since I don't like Darcy (I need to remind you that I'm team Rachel). I was hoping that there would be a lot of Rachel-Dex in this book even though I know that it's supposed to be about Darcy.
There's Rachel-Dex in this book. Just because Darcy was still obsessed with them and she wondered if their relationship is a real one. Really, Darcy is a shallow woman. Following the incident from Something Borrowed, Darcy tried to build her dream life once again. When everything didn't go as she expected, she decided to have a little breakaway to London. In London, she gets to live with her friend (yeah, right), Ethan.
It's a common story in a series when the bad one turns into the heroine in the sequel. He/she will get a turning point in his/her life and he/she will try to change for the better. Apparently, for Darcy, her turning point was a tough one. But she deserves it, I mean, hello! she's a manipulative, shallow woman. Even being pregnant, single with no friends, and not in a good term with her parents wasn't enough for her. Ethan had to be the one who told her all of her flaws.
Although I'm a big fan of Something Borrowed, Something Blue is not good enough, only 'okay'. Some part of the story are cliches. This book shows that even a woman like Darcy has good intention to change for the better, but nobody can change that fast. Something Blue is a nice closing for Darcy & Rachel series. Thank God now I can finally move on and get over this tale.
