[Review] Day 21 - Kass Morgan

Title of Book : Day 21 (The Hundred #2)
Author : Kass Morgan
Publisher : Little Brown Books for Young Readers

No one has set foot on Earth in centuries -- until now.
It's been 21 days since the hundred landed on Earth. They're the only humans to set foot on the planet in centuries...or so they thought. Facing an unknown enemy, Wells attempts to keep the group together. Clarke strikes out for Mount Weather, in search of other Colonists, while Bellamy is determined to rescue his sister, no matter the cost. And back on the ship, Glass faces an unthinkable choice between the love of her life and life itself.
In this pulse-pounding sequel to Kass Morgan's The 100, secrets are revealed, beliefs are challenged, and relationships are tested. And the hundred will struggle to survive the only way they can -- together.

Day 21 is the sequel of The 100. Since it’s a sequel, I won’t talk much about the plot. This book picks up where The 100 leaves off. Day 21, as in the title, refers to the time it takes for those who suffer radiation poisoning to start showing symptoms. It's been 21 days since they first landed on earth and things are not getting better.
Day 21 still follows the same four characters as the previous book. Each of them is explored deeper in this book. More back stories are told and more secrets are revealed. The political intrigue finally arises slowly, which makes me like this book more than The 100. The hundred also find another threat on earth besides radiation poison which possibly still remains on earth. This threat adds more conflict to the story yet also answer some questions from the first book.
The romance aspect still bugs me. Insta-love everywhere and the relationship feel dry to me. Glass's storyline turns out to be Titanic-esque kind of story. She falls in love with a guy from another class. While I don't want to spoil anything, just imagine that Glass is Rose and Luke (the guy she falls in love with) is Jack. But instead of a cruise ship, imagine a space ship. It's sweet actually. Of all the relationships that are in the book, I think Glass and Luke's connection is the most sincere. Until the tragedy which reminds me a lot of Titanic happens.
I find myself rooting for Bellamy. He seems like the guy who can hold himself in the worst situation. Even though some of his actions are careless if his sister's safety is at stake. His affection for Octavia feels true and that's not something that I see a lot in this book.
The ending is a bit of cliffhanger. Although not as hanging as the previous book, I guess. Still, I'm intrigued by the continuation of this book. All in all, the series gets better so if you've read The 100 I suggest you to read this book too.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange of an honest review.
